The electronic token display and queue management systems now in every Indian bank, hospital and government office trace back to a one-man workshop in Bengaluru in the mid-1990s. This is the story of how A.N. Venkatesh and DIGI-TECH (now Infra DigiTech) helped originate the integrated queue management system in India — from a first interest-rate display for SBI in 1995 to supplying State Bank of India's single-window banking in 2003–2004.
